I’m Kenald Bernard, a passionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing comprehensive life coaching and counseling services. I graduated with honors from CUNY Queens College, holding a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology. My journey began at NYC Children Services as a Child Protective Specialist, where I gained hands-on experience in preventive services, collaborated with law enforcement, and navigated the family court judiciary system.
In my postgraduate career, I transitioned to a hospital-based Mental Health Clinic, working as a psychotherapist. I honed my skills in both inpatient and outpatient substance use programs, developing a diverse expertise. My work extends to individuals facing challenges such as low motivation, depression, anxiety, addiction, and milder forms of psychosis. I also specialized in working with adolescents and families, addressing issues like oppositional defiance, parent guidance, and providing individual, family, and couples counseling.
Recognizing the importance of advanced education, I pursued and earned a master’s degree in Social Welfare from SUNY Stony Brook University. Following successful licensure, I joined the NYC Department of Health, focusing on nonviolent forensic populations dealing with various mental health illnesses.
My career brought me back to NYC Children Services, where I embraced a new role as a Child Family Specialist. Here, I worked closely with children and families in crisis, facilitating child safety conferences. Currently, I serve as a school social worker in the Freeport school district, actively contributing to changing lives one student at a time.
